PUBLISHING.

I have always wanted to be a published author, mainly so I would have an excuse to sit at a table in a street café in Paris and watch the world go by. But unfortunately, the closest I have gotten is designing book covers.

Before moving to Australia, I had the opportunity to work with a small boutique design agency in Dublin called Create, with the brilliant and passionate Owen and Linda. I had the chance to design the covers for several publications for the prestigious Gill & Macmillan publishing house. Here are a selection of those.

tactile sophistication.

Create explored print production techniques and innovative paper stocks to produce tangible works of quality.

I got the chance to work on a wide variety of niche printed publications.

One of the highlights was this: Discovering Historic Fingal, a guide to the historic amenities of the Fingal area.

Sadly, it remains one of the few times the client paid particular attention to the quality of paper stock and bespoke print specifications, creating a beautiful and tactile piece that was as lovely to hold as it was to read.

The Irish echO

I have had the pleasure of working under the stewardship of the inimitable Billy Cantwell for the Irish Echo for a number of years, laying out the fortnightly newspaper and generating adverts, promotional pieces and indispensable Annual publications (such as the Good Pub Guide).

It was a great way of keeping in touch with ‘the home country” as I settled into life here in Oz.
